Chapter 27's Chante Wolf's account of her service and views.
This is my story about deployment to the Persian Gulf War (Desert Shield/Desert Storm), as a woman traveling alone, to the first Persian Gulf war, landing at my Top Secret destination a day and a half before the war started. No combat training at all, but given an M-16 and 200 rounds of ammunition for God knows what? It concludes with my coming home and my change of heart about war and violence against us all.
It took me 19 years to put it together ... my words were pulled out of my journal and juxtaposed with my drawings from Bloom County and Calvin and Hobbes, photos and excerpts from such authors as: Chris Hedges; Howard Zinn; Ramsey Clark; Albert Einstien; President Eisenhower; Dante; Col. Dave Grossman; and Dr. Mic Hunter (Honor Betrayed), paint the best picture I can paint of what my war experience was for me there, my journey home and my work with Veterans For Peace.
This book is the result of my participating in a new project, the Veterans Book Project. It gives voice to veterans who normally would not have access (education, experience, know how) to getting a book published.
